Outline of course content:
This course incorporates practical skills, design capabilities and the understanding and application of design principles, to create food products with a purpose for the world in which we live. It builds on the Design and Technology curriculum throughout the College, and from the skills learned in the Food and Catering curriculum of KS3 and GCSE.
Students experiment with different foods, ingredients and techniques to create products with a wide range of possible outcomes. The course will be mainly hands-on and creative, so keen, expressive cooking is important, and the ability to embrace alternative ideas is essential. Students develop real products for potential markets and devise commercial production and marketing strategies to implement their potential manufacture.
