Citizenship and PSHE Education at Callington Community College provide a vital contribution towards the delivery of the five outcomes for Every Child Matters: being healthy, being safe, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and economic well-being. There is a clear focus in this department in using varied teaching and learning styles to stimulate each student to develop their confidence in understanding themselves and the world in which they live.
Citizenship education equips students with the knowledge, understanding and skills to play an active part in society as informed and critical citizens who are socially and morally responsible. It aims to give them the confidence and conviction that they can act with others to have influence and make a difference in their communities.
Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE) helps to give students the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. It aims to help them in developing personally and socially and it tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that affect young people today.
Citizenship Newsletters are produced periodically. An example is available to download below. All College newsletters are available to students, staff and parents/carers on our VLE. Because many parents and carers do not like their childrens' pictures to appear on the internet, the decision was taken not to publish newsletters on our public website. All images on this site are checked against our Images Consent database.
