Dance is part of the Key Stage 3 curriculum with Year 7 taking part in two modules and Year 8 taking part in one module. BTEC Dance is offered in Years 9 and 10, with GCSE Dance offered in Year 11. GCSE Dance has been established for several years and is a popular subject with students. AS and A2 Dance are offered in the sixth form.
Dance is also part of the PE curriculum offered in option blocks in core lessons in Years 9, 10 and 11.
Callington has two dance studios at the college, one of which is the stage used for performances.
We believe that extra-curricular dance plays an important role and offer dance shows throughout the year for students to show their work as well as an annual Dance Festival day in November. We work with other local schools in Devon and Cornwall and share work where possible. Workshops with other professionals as well as trips to the theatre are available and Dance club for all years is offered every term. Callington Dance Company was established in September 2007 and continues to run as well as a boys break dancing group ‘Young Steps'.

"Everybody dances, in their own way and for their own reasons. Throughout the world people dance - to celebrate, to express their cultural heritage and identity, to explore and communicate their understanding of their life and times" (Arts Council Guidance on dance Education).
