In July 2011, a group of dancers from the school took part in a project on Stoke Beach. The project involved filling small gaps and creating unusual shapes, using the surroundings. It was a really good opportunity as we got to work with professional dancers, and in an environment outside the school studio.
Being involved in the project helped to gain experiences in the different styles of dance, and different ways of creating movements. Being able to work with professional dancers also helped to expand the ideas that we had and also introduced us to different ways of working.
Students were also invited to attend a performance workshop with professional dance company SpinDrift. The project explored gently manipulating dancer's bodies into nooks and crannies and melting their body shapes to both complement and contrast the site.
