Cornwall Schools Athletics Association Combined Events Championships 2011
On Thursday 26th May 2011, Callington Community College took a team of athletes to Par athletics track to compete in the Combined Events Championships. Athletes competed in a pentathlon involving the following five events: high jump, long jump, shot put, hurdles and 800m. For many of the Year 7 athletes it was their first time competing outside the College and they did extremely well both in terms of the effort they put into each event and their achievement. The effort the athletes put into the day was extremely commendable with some athletes as a result achieving new personal bests. Particular congratulations go to three students who have been invited to the next event and will possibly represent Cornwall in the South West Schools Championships. Further congratulations to the Year 7 Boys and the Year 8 Girls teams who finished 3rd overall, securing a Bronze medal each. Well done to all the athletes involved, they were a credit to the school.
