Congratulations to the many Callington students who have once more won prestigious places at the very best academic institutions. These exceptional results are a direct reflection on the outstanding teaching and pastoral care and the hard work and dedication of the students themselves.
Approximately one in four of all A level grades were A* or A. 98% of students achieved a pass grade. It is especially pleasing that A* and A grades achieved by boys has risen from 17% to 22%. The QCA average points score for boys has also risen from 204 to 207. The pass rate for girls is again above the national average at 98.3%.
Congratulations to top Year 13 performer Louis Morris who gained A* grades in Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Maths and A grades in Physics and Music. Louis will be reading Chemistry at Bristol University. There were many further exceptional performances. Will Appleby achieved A* grades in Chemistry and the Extended Project and A grades in Biology and Mathematics. Will has secured a place at Imperial College London. Kathryn Halliday achieved A* grades in Biology and the Extended project and A grade in Psychology. Kathryn will be reading Molecular Biology and Genetics at University of East Anglia. Chris Judge achieved A grades in Economics, Geography, History and the Extended Project and Esme Kemp gained A* in History, A grades in Media Studies and the Extended Project, B grades in English Literature and Drama. Both students will study at the University of York. Harriet Jenkins gained A* in Media Studies, A grades in Psychology and Religious Education and B grade for English Language. Harriet will be reading Education and Criminology at University of Cardiff. Many students achieved highly. Congratulations to Carys Barriball who achieved one A*, one A and two B grades; Jonathon Ormsby who gained one A*, one A and one B grade; Charlotte Dart who achieved one A*, one A, one B and one C grade and Amy Endacott on gaining one A*, one A, one B and a C grade.
In Year 12 many students achieved outstanding results. Congratulations to Ellen Chaplin who gained two A2 levels at A and C grades, and two A grades and one B at AS level. Also at AS level, Jess Cox achieved four A grades and one B grade. Congratulations also to Tom Warner who achieved three A grades and one B grade and to Sophie Lane on gaining three A grades and one C grade.
