Callington students attended The Chinese New Year Road Show in Devonport Guildhall, Plymouth

Over thirty students from Callington Community College in Years 8 to 10, accompanied by thirty-five pupils in Year 4 from Callington Primary School, attended The Chinese New Year Road Show on Friday 27th January in Devonport Guildhall, Plymouth.

The event was organised by the Peninsula Group Confucius Classroom, the college is one of the four partner schools, and included performances by a group of Chinese medical students. The students are seconded to the Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine at London South Bank University and they visited Plymouth to perform to over 350 youngsters from schools in the area. The performances included traditional Chinese dancing, folk dance and martial arts demonstrations. During their visit the youngsters from Callington had an opportunity to take part in workshops of Chinese dance and playing Chinese musical instruments.

The group from Callington thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learnt a lot about Chinese life and their culture. It was an excellent way to see in the Year of the Dragon.
