Callington student excels at Athletics

Despite the fact that Patrick has only been receiving coaching for about 8 months, he has already achieved great success

Patrick Channings (Year 8) has won every 100m, 150m and 200m race that he competed in last summer through league meetings and open meetings.

Currently ranked 3^rd in the UK for his age in the 150m event, 33^rd in the 200m and 39^th in the Long Jump, Patrick  achieved four AAA (Amateur Athletics Association) Grade 1s last summer.

Patrick has won every race so far in the Indoor Sportshall competition in the 2 laps and 4 laps and was recently selected for his County in the South West Regionals. The team came second, but Patrick won his individual race, receiving a gold medal.

Patrick's targets for this year are to win his individual events in the Indoor Sportshall League, to become a Devon County Champion on the Track and to get selected for the South West and compete in the Nationals. He would also like to help Tavistock Athletics Club retain the Devon Open Series.
