On Friday the 11th of June 2010, 12 year 7/8 students set off to go to a volleyball tournament at Perranporth beach. It took about an hour to get there and when we did arrive, we set up and practised in our teams of four, ready for the games ahead of us. After around 30 minutes, we all gathered together and listen to a lady tell us about what was going to happen during the day.
Each team played about 4 or 5 games which went up to 21 points. It was all great fun. Everyone was very excited and raring to go, plus even though it was a competition, there was a really friendly atmosphere and nobody got too competitive. The weather was great too, which was an added bonus.
Then after all of the games there were the semi- finals, which unfortunately we didn't get into. Whilst the semi- finals were going on, we all had mini games against each other and other schools who also didn't get in the semi- finals!
After that, when the adults were scoring who got into the finals, we had an hour or two to relax. There were people eating ice-creams, or fish and chips, while others were paddling in the sea and some made huge sandcastles!
Then we all came together to watch the finals. It was two Redruth teams up against each other! There was a lot of tension building up, and everyone was cheering at the side lines.
Then, the scores came in, Callington came in 6th, 7th and 8th and I want to say congratulations to the Redruth team who won.
Thank you to all of the teachers who helped organise this event, we all had an amazing time and will keep doing volleyball in the future!
