For the first time in over 5 years we entered a team into the UK Mathematics Trust Team Challenge where two Year 9s and two Year 8s completed a day of mathematical challenges at Plymouth Guildhall. We didn't make the top three but definitely had a day full of challenging numbers!!
In May around 60 Year 8 students entered the UK Individual Maths Challenge. All of our students did brilliantly.
13 students received a Bronze certificate. This means they are within the top 40% of all the students nationally that entered.
8 students received a Silver certificate which means they are within the top 20% of all the students.
1 student received a Gold certificate which means she is in the top 7% of all students nationally.
The UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. The trust has been established since 1996 and in the last academic year over 600,000 pupils from 4000 schools took part in the individual challenges, the UK's biggest national maths competitions.
Well done to all those students involved.
