Fabulous Exam Results

Once again Callington students have surpassed themselves, at GCSE and A Level

Students at Callington Community College have achieved outstanding results in their GCSE examinations.

In their 2010 GCSE or equivalent examinations, 86% of all students achieved five or more A*- C grades exceeding all previous results at the college. The average point score per student has also risen from 447 in 2009 to 540 in 2010. Boys improved from 439 to 537 and girls from 453 to 544. The percentage of students achieving five A*- C grades including English and Mathematics also increased by a further 2% this year.

Students achieved highly in many subjects. Engineering, Mathematics, Art and Construction were among the many curriculum areas in which exceptional results have been achieved.

Headteacher, Gary Lobbett commented:

‘These are absolutely outstanding results. Many of our young people have met and surpassed their challenging personal targets and goals. The progress we have made is the result of the dedication and commitment of our staff, the positive attitude and hard work of our students and the high level of support from parents. I am very proud of the achievements of all our students and of the teaching and support teams at the College who guide and encourage students throughout the year. Congratulations to everyone involved'.

Outstanding A level results were achieved at Callington Community College, the best results in the College's history.

Congratulations to the many Callington students who have once more won prestigious places at the very best academic institutions.

These exceptional results are a direct reflection on the outstanding teaching and pastoral care and the hard work and dedication of the students themselves.

One in four of all grades were A* or A. The percentage of A*-B grades improved by a further 20% on the previous year.

The QCA average point per student of 209 represents an excellent achievement by everyone. QCA total average points per entry also increased dramatically to 829.  99% of students achieved a pass grade. It is especially pleasing that boys average points improved by a further 12%. The average total UCAS points per student has risen again this year to 329.

Headteacher Gary Lobbett said:

‘I am very proud of our students and of the excellent teaching teams at the College. There are so many success stories here. I am delighted that both A and A2 levels pass rates have risen again at the college this year. My congratulations to all our outstanding young people who have met and surpassed their challenging personal targets at all levels. Callington enjoys a national reputation for excellence. I wish all our students every success as they progress further in their education or chosen careers'.
