This new centre, the only one in the South West, is a new venture which aspires to give all students access to the world of Robotics.
Callington Community College is committed to using Robots across the curriculum. Combining ingenuity with programming skills, students pit their wits against a series of fun challenges or use the concept of programming and control to develop a greater understanding of curriculum areas from Maths to Art.
The centre is available for schools across the region and courses are available to suit all age ranges and capabilities. Robotics allows students to develop key skills from communication, problem solving or how to be an effective member of a team.
The centre will be hosting the ‘First Lego League' regional finals on December the 6th where students across Devon will be competing for a place in the National finals. This year's event is based around Food Hygiene and the event is being closely supported by Ginsters.
Look out for the ‘Robotic Olympics' in July 2012 where teams of students will build robots to compete in events such as 400m, shot put, weightlifting and more!
