The Leavers' Assembly was a fabulous celebration of our students' achievements.
Each student was presented with a Leaver's Folder by Joe Clarke and Sean Michael Stephens from Plymouth Albion Rugby Club. Many students won awards which recognised achievements in all subject areas and there were also awards nominated by the students themselves some serious and some more lighthearted.
Tom Easton won 'Most Improved' student, Sophie Gatcum won 'Hardest Worker', Jodie Shipton won 'Sports Personality', Jess and Richard won 'Most likely to Marry' and Malcolm won 'Best Hair'.
It was brilliant that so many of our talented students performed to their peers. Joel began the proceedings with Debussy's Clair de Lune. There were also performances from Megan and Jakob, Tin and Alex, Marcus, Rob, Shelbie and Tom and Elliot's band.
We enjoyed a civilised lunch together before hearing the tutors' interpretation of 'Perfect Day' by Lou Reed, rewritten for 2010 as 'Perfect Year', inspired by the yeargroup.
The May Ball was a fantastic evening for staff and students alike. Fortunately the rain stopped for the all important arrival at St Mellion International Resort.
The top 3 arrivals of the night have to go to Annabel, who arrived bareback on a shire horse, Amy Bentham and Charlotte Wadge in a Cinderella carriage but Rob, Alex, Guy and Tom pipped them to the post for best arrival with their customised lorry which was made to look like a stage and their rendition of the Black Eyed Peas 'I got a feeling' (that tonight's going to be a good night) complete with guitars and drums. It was the best arrival I've seen in 4 years of attending the May Ball.
Of course all students looked particularly gorgeous. There were some fabulous outfits from explosions of pink and sparkles to chic LBDs. Rob Frost Photography were once again present to capture the students in all their glory.
The meal was enjoyed by all, especially Jack who won a £5 bet with his mates by eating his entire pudding without cutlery or getting caught! Tamsyn and Dan entertained the yeargroup with fantastic speeches, sharing many happy memories of our years together as a yeargroup. Later on, Ollie Clarke wowed the whole yeargroup on the dancefloor who surrounded him in a circle, clapping and watching while he performed his perfect routine to Beyonce's 'Single Ladies'. Brilliant!
The end of the night saw staff and pupils alike take to the dancefloor and we were played out with the Tutor Song 'Perfect Year': The perfect end to a perfect day.
We would like to wish Year 11 every success in their exams and future. We'll miss you.
