The new building growing rapidly at the front of Callington Community College will house a Travel and Tourism Academy and a new centre for Children and Family Services.
Headteacher Mr Gary Lobbett comments:
"The construction team are confident that the building will be ready for opening in July/August and will be available for our use on September 1st 2011. We are having many discussions about the best ways in which support provided at the College for students and families will be developed from the centre. There is also a great deal of interest surrounding our new Travel and Tourism Academy and how international and cultural studies can be supported and further developed.
The building is fully eco-sustainable. The timber frame arrived last week and the second floor of the building is currently under construction. There will be opportunities for students to design and produce art work for display in the centre.
We also need a name for the building! A competition will be launched to name the centre later this term."
