On May 25th 2010, three members of the school council collected their Bronze Award for PADL at New County Hall along with ten other Cornish schools.
Callington Community College is one of only two secondary schools in East Cornwall who have achieved their Bronze Award. This award is given for running an effective school council. PADL stands for Promoting Active Democracy Loudly and the student council had to meet a range of criteria assessed by student assessors.
Jem, Georgia and Sam represented the student council to collect their award, supported by Ms Kemp, Director of Student Voice and Christoph Rippe, our CSV volunteer. They also had to prepare a presentation to the conference to describe the successes of our student council.
The student council are now making plans to work towards achieving their silver award next year.
