A shady figure, seen wandering around the College, has hidden miniature radio transmitters.
Fortunately a team of Gifted and Talented students from KS3 volunteered to give up their Saturday morning to help find them.
Selected for their quick thinking and team work, these G&T students were enlisted as members of K.E.R.N.O. (Key Experts, Radio Navigation Organisation) and issued with their Secret Agent ID badges.
First task was to find out about how a simple radio can be used to locate the direction of a radio signal.
Polar diagrams (circular graphs) are used to show how the signal strength changes with direction.
Our ‘Special Agents', issued with their PJ-80 receivers, were sent out to locate the six hidden transmitters. (Can anyone tell us what the Chinese writing says ....?)
With only a little help from the members of Callington Amateur Radio Society, the Special Agents were soon scouring the campus.
The locations of all the hidden radios were discovered and reported back to to the control room.
A great morning for all involved.
