A & AS Results
Students at Callington Community College have again achieved excellent results. Both A and A2 level pass rates have risen again this year. At A level, 99% of students achieved have achieved a pass. Whilst boys' results remained consistent with the previous year, girls' overall pass rate improved from 98.5% in 2008 to 99.2%. The total UCAS points also improved on average by 30 points per student to 250. We are delighted that 39% of students studying for the new Extended Project achieved A or B grades. Whilst results in many subject areas are impressive, exceptionally high standards were achieved in both Drama and Media Studies. It is also very pleasing that students achieved very well in Chemistry.
Congratulations to Katharine Collard, Jon Vernon and Rebecca Philp who each achieved three A Grades at Advanced Level. Having achieved six A grades at A level, A grade in AS Psychology and A* grade in the Extended Project, Jos Kirkman has been offered a place to study Medicine at the prestigious University of St Andrews in Edinburgh.
At AS level, the majority of subjects achieved 100% pass rate. Boys performed very well with an improvement in pass rate from 80% in 2008 to 88.5% this year. Congratulations to Hannah Feakins and Bethan Jones who achieved four A grades and to Jack Marks, Claire Pritchard and Luka Webb who each achieved three A grades.
Best GCSE results ever!
Students at Callington Community College have achieved outstanding results in their GCSE examinations. In their 2009 GCSE or equivalent examinations, 79% of all students achieved five or more A* - C grades exceeding all previous results at the college. The percentage of students achieving five A* - C grades including English and Mathematics also increased by 8% this year. The average point score per student has also risen from 366.5 in 2008 to 447.12 in 2009.
Headteacher, Gary Lobbett commented, "I am absolutely delighted by the achievements of all our young people. These results are exceptional. The progress we have made is the result of the dedication, commitment and hard work of our staff, the positive attitude of our students and the high level of support from parents. Our young people have met and surpassed their challenging personal targets and aspirations. I am very proud of their achievements and of the teaching and support teams at the College who guide and encourage students throughout the year. These are absolutely outstanding results. Congratulations to everyone involved".
We would particularly like to recognise the achievements of Anna Rowe who achieved eleven A* and A grades and to Eve Robertson and Sara Rowe who both achieved ten A* and A grades. Also to Will Appleby, Aggie Eynon and Cadan Lowther who achieved nine A* and A grades, to Craig Matthews and Abi Brown who achieved eight A* and A grades and to Esme Kemp and Louis Morris who achieved seven A* and A grades and three B grades each.
