GCSE Results 2009

Students at Callington Community College have produced excellent results again this year. 

• 80% of students achieved 5 A* - C

This figure continues the upward year on year trend and can be attributed to a number of factors not least of which would be the accelerated curriculum and the adoption of new courses that better suited some students.  For the boys the figure improved from 59% to 75% whilst the girls improved from 70% to 83%.

• 68% of all grades were A* - C
• 17% of all grades were A* or A
• 53% of students achieved 5 A* - C including English and Maths
• 96% of students achieved 5 A* - G (the national percentage was 92)

The average points total per student rose from 369 in 2008 to 447 in 2009.  This represents an average improvement of 21%.

A number of subjects had over 90% A* to C pass rate, including Textiles, Chemistry, IT, and PE.

Notables with 80% A* to C pass rate include Art and Design, Photography, Biology, Catering, French, Music, Physics and Spanish.
