Start Date: 10th June 2010 - End Date: 11th June 2010
This is a return visit for Amber, who visited the college last year to promote 'Signatures in Space'.
Ms. Gell has experience working on various programs for major Aerospace contractors such as Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman. She currently works for Lockheed Martin in Houston, Texas as a contractor to NASA on the Orion Project. The Orion Project is part of NASA's Constellation Program and their overall Vision for Space Exploration. Ms. Gell is a member of the team that is designing the Orion Spacecraft which will replace the Space Shuttle and be America's Flagship for Space Exploration.
Amber is taking time out of her busy schedule with the Constellation programme to visit the college to help promote the roles of women in engineering. This is part of a series of events that the Space Centre has organised to mark the official launch of their status as Space Ambassadors for the European Space Agency.
Local Astronomy groups and members of the College will be invited to hear Amber speak during the evening of Thursday 10th June. The following day she will be working with Callington students, and meeting Gifted & Talented students invited from other schools in the area. Amber will also spend time with students in their PEP (Personal Enhancement Programme) session "Exploring Space".
