In April 2012, students from France visited Callington for few days. They enjoyed days out, bowling and at Woodlands, and took part in normal College days with their English counterparts.
In March 2012, a group of students from Years 9 and 10 visited College Le Vizac in Guipavas, France.
After a rather rough crossing, in which nameless people might have been a little sea sick, we were relieved to set foot on French soil. We were greeted with a wave of hospitality, laughter and friendliness. After the initial difficulties with communication we found it surprisingly easy to adapt especially as we were made so welcome.
The school was very hospitable; we were officially welcomed and given a guided tour by the head teacher, who spoke excellent English. We met all of our exchange class and played some getting to know you games in which we all had fun, especially Matt!!!
At break time the attention was all on us, people came up and surrounded us asking many questions. We were treated like VIPs! After this we went on a treasure hunt in Callington's twin town, Guipavas.
At the end of the hunt we were formally welcomed by the Mayor of Guipavas and all received refreshments and a gift.
The next day we went into some lessons with our exchange partners and some of us assisted the teacher in an English lesson, it was nerve wracking at first but after a while it was an enjoyable experience.
Later in the day we were invited with our French exchange partners to join in with a
professional Breton dancing group! It was great and we found it very amusing!
In 2011, a group of students from Guipavas visited Callington at Easter. Following on from this, a group of Year 7 and 8 Callington students spent five days in France, staying with French families, learning about Brittany and having a great time!
