Gifted & Talented

Callington Community College has been designated a Gifted & Talented Lead School...

Gifted & Talented is an affiliate programme of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.

All departments within the College invite their Gifted and Talented students to take part in activities and events arranged for their benefit.

For example, in March 2009, the internationally renowned Schubert Ensemble of London visited the Music College. Fourteen pianists and string players formed ensembles, which were coached by members of the famous piano quintet as they played pieces from the Chamber Music 2000 Series especially written for young musicians in year 2000.

This year a group of Year 10 students are taking part in a project with Ginsters of Cornwall, to develop a new product for the company.  Read more here...

Procedures are being put in place to inform parents and students of where their gifts and talents have been identified and what provision we have for them.  A register of Gifted and Talented students will be introduced with Gold, Silver and Bronze levels to allow the students access to relevant provision.

Information Evenings for parents/carers will be organised, at which departmental G&T leads will provide displays and be on hand to talk to parents and carers.

A number of G&T events are being planned for 2009-2010, including sports fixtures and master classes, and a large event in the Spring Term.
