The college has aimed to be at the forefront of educational development in the whole country and has won several national awards in the areas of healthy living and increased opportunities in sport.
Our overriding desire has been and continues to be the raising of standards and aspirations, through focusing on individual growth and leadership, development of staff and students, provision for gifted and talented and improving the health and well being of the community.
Continued success has enabled the college to keep moving forward in meeting its targets and innovating across our partnership. Some of our recent developments are:
2004 - successful redesignation bid for a further four years
2004 - invited to apply for a second specialism - Music
2005 - successful at taking over the running of the local Sports Centre
2005 - successful in attracting a £1 million bid from the Football Foundation to build a 3G floodlit all-weather Astroturf pitch
2006 - achieved Sports College High Achieving status
2006 - completion of four outside floodlit tennis courts in partnership with LTA
2007 - invited to become part of Sports College high performing peer mentoring scheme
2007 - successful with Sport England bid to develop an extended school day, further extending
