The Sports and Dance Academy

The Sports and Dance Academy launch in September 2011 will add a further strand to the outstanding opportunities and curriculum already available to sixth form students at Callington Community College.

The Sports and Dance Academy will enable learners to pursue A level or Level 2 or 3 BTEC courses in a wide range of subjects or a full time Sport or Dance course, whilst also following an exciting performance and training programme in one of three specialist pathways; Basketball, Football or Dance. This will allow students to pursue their academic goals and sporting ambitions.

Using the first class facilities at Callington Community College our staff will be delivering these programmes, working in association with three highly prestigious organisations; Plymouth Raiders, Plymouth Argyle Football Club and Attik Dance Company. Their specialist coaches will be working alongside our staff to deliver first class performance and training programmes for talented, enthusiastic students. 

Sixth Form students can study for the following qualifications with the Sports and Dance Academy:

• BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance)
• BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport (Development and Fitness)
• BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence)
