Higher Education and Further Education

Students in the Sixth Form at Callington Community College are encouraged to apply for Higher Education or Further Education courses...

We have a library of University and College prospectuses in the Sixth Form area, which students are free to browse or borrow as they wish.

In 2009, three younger students (from Year 10) joined a larger group from around Cornwall on a visit to St John's College, Oxford, to learn more about University life, and more recently in 2010, four sixth form students attended a Summer Residential Programme at Exeter College, Oxford.  The students were able to look around Oxford and several colleges, meet current students and tutors, and visit university facilities.

The College has close links with Plymouth University.  Staff and students from the University visit the Sixth Form to advise our students on

• choosing and applying for HE courses
• writing a Personal Statement for UCAS
• aspects of student life
• the student loans system
