Two student representatives are elected from each year group (Years 7-13) in the College. Candidates make a presentation to their year group, showing how they feel they can contribute to the Council in order to make the school a better place for Students.
College Council Elections are run as much like real elections as possible. Candidates campaignd prior to the elections and are given guidance by Callington County Councillor, Andrew Long. On the day the electoral services provide booths and ballot boxes for the student body to vote.
The Student Council achieved the Silver PADL (Promoting Active Democracy Loudly) Award to accredit the work they do.
Students wishing to contact the Student Council can do so via any of the representatives, in person or using the College VLE.
The Student Council has strong links with the Citizenship and PSHE Department in the College, which encourages students to play a more active role in the school and their community, building skills of responsibility and leadership. The latest Citizenship Newsletter can be downloaded from the curriculum area.
